FEEFHS held a western regional conference in Calgary, Alberta, on Tuesday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This was during the week of the annual convention of the AHSGR (American Historical Society of Germans from Russia) but before the beginning of any AHSGR programs. The conference was held at the Calgary Multicultural Center, 712 5th Street, about 4 blocks from the site of the AHSGR convention. Various groups of Germans constitute the largest East European ethnic group in Western Canada. Because of the AHSGR conference, the FEEFHS conference concentrated on the Germans, but there were also presentations relevant to other groups. The FEEFHS registration fee was Canadian $25.00 or US$20.00. Walt Rusel was the conference chairman and in charge of local arrangements and registration (see address above). Jerry Frank was the program chair and responsible for publicity in Western Canada. Ed Brandt was responsible for United States publicity and assisting with program planning.
